The Shelby Volunteer Fire Company was founded on June 8, 1949, and operates out of two stations protecting the Town of Shelby in Orleans County New York. There are approximately 5,420 residents in the Shelby Fire district. Shelby provides the community with Firefighting, EMS, and Water Rescue. The Company fleet consists of six pieces of Fire Apparatus one Pumper/Tanker (32), one Tanker (50), one Pumper/Rescue (10), one EMS Vehicle (69) one Utility Vehicle (81) and one fully equipped Foam Trailer. The Shelby Volunteer Fire Company is 100% volunteer and prides itself on its commitment to our community.
Our Company consists of an elite and versatile team of more than 45 men and women and a well organized Junior Firefighter Program, with specialists in various disciplines including Auto Extrication, Emergency Medical Services, Foam Fire Suppression, Hazardous Materials, and Cold Water Rescue. Each week our Company hosts training drills to keep our skills sharp. Our weekly drills include Auto Extrication, EMS, Hazmat Operations, Live Fire, Mayday Operations and Search and Rescue; just to name a few topics. Our Team takes training very seriously. Our Team is continuously working to improve their skills to be better prepared for our community in their time of need! Shelby Volunteer Fire Company Provides Specialized Fire Suppression to the area in the event of an Ethanol Fueled Fire. Our Pumper/Rescue (10) and our Foam Trailer are Equipped with Specialized Tools to Aid In The Suppression and Have a Combined Total of 760 Gallons of ARFFF Fire Suppression Foam On Board and Ready For Rapid Deployment.
